Acne. Spots. Scarring.
The Good. The Bad. The Ugly.
We’re giving you the Lowdown on Spot Control so you can spend more time coffee scrubbing and less time panicking.
Spots. Some are Good.
And some are bad.
To Name a Few: Spots, Pimples, Blackheads & Acne.
As long as we have a body at some point we’re going to get them; Its inevitable. Those unwanted lumps and bumps which decide to show up the night before a job interview or worse. Before a first date – Cue panic mode and running to the bathroom to cover your face with toothpaste.
The list of undesirable and inconvenient times a spot decides to show up is endless, because lets face it spots are undesirable and inconvenient.
But as research shows up to 50% of people get acne at some point on their life. Console yourself that at least you’re not alone.
The Good – What you should be doing to prevent spots and blitz those zits.
While some people are more prone to spots and get them more than others, It’s still an annoying fact of life that at some point everyone will wake up with a huge spot somewhere on their face.
The good news; prevention is key and prevention is possible.
Number one – Keep things clean. That means your phone, make-up brushes, hair, your nails, pillows. Basically everything which comes into contact with your face.
Try and use non alcohol based cleaning products which won’t cause your skin to dry out.
Number two – Keeping your skin clean because whether or not you have spots, washing your face daily will not only prevent spots from occurring but also help to remove impurities, debris, excess oils and dirt. Not the kind of stuff you want clogging up your pores. If you wear make-up a good idea is to wear light-weight or no make-up during this time; just to give your skin a little breathing time.
Number three – Exfoliate Gently with a coffee scrub as this will help prevent spots and speed up the healing time of a spot.
For facial spots use the Grounded Lemon and Tea Tree scrub (Find me here) twice a week. This scrub contains Witch Hazell, Lemon Oil and Tea Tree Oil to help unblock your pores, help fight spot causing bacteria, its astringent properties help stop infections spreading and promotes healthy skin regeneration.
Use the Grounded Grapefruit Coffee Scrub for body spots three to four times per week (Find me here) this all natural cleansing scrub contains plenty of Vitamin C and Sea Salt to fight spots and help skin heal. Plus with added Vitamin E and Almond oil these scrubs help with scarring too.
Number four – Take care of yourself. Drink Plenty of water, eat lots of fruit and vegetables, get lots of sleep, exercise and moisturise daily.
The Bad – The factors which can contribute to spots
Hormones – Yes sometimes its way out of your control. Hormones can wreak havoc on your skin causing breakouts, pimples and acne which can lead to scarring. Typically these kind of spots are on the lower half of your face. Take good care of yourself during this time, relax a little, get a facial, use paraben free products (like Grounded- to clear out waste and toxins) during this time and your body will take care of the rest.
Food – Greasy Processed Food, Alcohol, Sugar, Chilli, Spices, & too many lattes can contribute to a build up of toxins resulting in spots. Cut down and you’ll see an immediate improvement in your skin. Save the Coffee for your body – Find my scrubs here.

For this:
Pollution – Acne can be caused by polluted air; as in we breathe in toxins and they make their way to our skins surface, blocking it up causing acne. Make sure your around fresh, clean air and keep your skincare as natural as possible to clean out all of the bad stuff.
The Ugly – I.e Yes the downright ugly.
Sometimes our lifestyles may get the better of us, but this is what’s really going to go on if you don’t take good care of your skin when a spot a-Rise’s.
Bacteria Spreading – Acne, Spots, Pimples all contain lots of bad bacteria so if you do decide to touch them make sure its with a tissue, cotton swab or a extremely clean hand so the bacteria doesn’t spread. The ugly part? Bacteria that spread’s can actually cause more spots.
Whatever you do, Don’t Pop it – If you’re tired of waiting for a spot to go down try not to Pick, Squeeze, Press or Pop your own spots. Go to a specialist who will be able to do all of this for you to save yourself the stress. If you do it wrong you can cause inflammation, lots of pain, damaging skin or just making the spot a whole lot worse.
If you’ve not got time for a facial; use the Grounded Lemon and Tea tree scrub as a mini facial and apply for half an hour. It will act as a anti-inflammatory and you’re spots noticeably calmer.
So there you have it. The Good the Bad and the Down right ugly when it comes to spots.
